Entry systems for apartments, strata and commercial buildings, installed by the person a building manager can actually call back.
No obligation, and no one will chase you afterwards.
An intercom is the front door of a building, and when it fails, everyone from residents to couriers feels it the same day. NQB Security installs and upgrades intercom systems across South East Brisbane, from single commercial premises to full apartment buildings. A recent job covered a complete twenty-four unit intercom upgrade, along with camera coverage for the same building’s car park and rooftop area.
The intercom gets set up around your building’s real traffic, residents, visitors, staff and deliveries, not a generic install.

Building intercom work is a good part of what we do, and it is different work from a house. It means coordinating access across dozens of units, keeping the building functional during changeover, and dealing with a body corporate that needs one accountable contact rather than a rotating crew. Committees and building managers are welcome to call directly. One body corporate manager came to us after his existing installer could not work out how to get a camera to the rooftop; that job, and the intercom upgrade with it, is the kind of reference we are happy to talk through.
Most older buildings do not need a full rewire. Existing cabling can often carry a modern video intercom system, which changes the job from a construction project into a staged changeover. The site visit establishes what the existing cabling can support, and the quote tells you plainly which path your building is on before the committee commits to anything.
Modern systems put the front door on the resident’s phone. See who is buzzing, speak to them and release the door from anywhere, which also solves deliveries for residents who are never home when the courier is. For commercial premises, the same capability means reception can manage the door without being next to it.
For offices, clinics and industrial premises, the intercom is usually one part of the entry system alongside access control: staff badge in, visitors buzz. Designing them together avoids the common mess of two systems from two installers that do not talk to each other.

Doors, credentials and site records that do not leave the next person guessing.
02
Cameras positioned to identify people and footage you can find when it matters.
03
Systems that staff and households can arm and disarm without a manual.
04
Apartment, strata and commercial entry systems with a documented handover.
06
A fault path for systems that have stopped working or been left undocumented.
Building upgrades are quoted per site because unit count, existing cabling and door hardware drive the price. The quote sets out the per-unit cost and the reasoning, in a form a committee can take to a meeting.
Often, yes. Many older buildings have cabling that can carry a modern video intercom system, which avoids opening walls in every unit. The site visit establishes what your cabling can support before anything is quoted, and if a rewire genuinely is needed, you will hear that from us first, with the reasons.
Whoever the building nominates: the committee, the building manager or the strata manager. You get one accountable person for the whole job rather than a different technician each visit, and the building gets a documented handover covering the head end, the door stations and the unit connections.
Yes. Video intercom systems with phone answering are standard in what we install. Residents or staff see who is at the door, speak to them and release the door from anywhere. For buildings, that also reduces the steady trickle of lockout and delivery complaints that building managers otherwise absorb.
Usually, yes. Intercom faults in buildings often outlive the installer’s interest in the building. We diagnose what is there, fix what can be fixed, and document the system so the next fault starts from a record. If the system is at end of life, we will say so and quote the upgrade honestly. Call 1300 153 645 and say it is a fault.
