1. Introduction

NQB Security (“we”, “us” or “our”) provides security and communications solutions, including the installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV systems, alarm systems, access control systems, intercoms and related security equipment. Where requested and available, we may also assist clients with monitoring solutions.

We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), where applicable.

This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal information we may collect, how we use and protect that information, and how you can contact us about your personal information.

2. Personal Information We May Collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with NQB Security and the services you request.

This may include:

  • your name, phone number and email address;
  • your residential or business address;
  • business and contact details;
  • property or site information required to quote, install, service or maintain security equipment;
  • information about existing CCTV, alarm, access control or intercom systems;
  • access information that may be required to complete installation or servicing work;
  • records of enquiries, quotes, appointments and communications with us;
  • billing, invoicing and payment information; and
  • technical information associated with security equipment that we install, configure, maintain or troubleshoot.

Where monitoring services are provided, additional information may be processed in connection with the operation of the relevant security system, depending on the monitoring arrangement.

We only seek to collect information that is reasonably necessary for our business activities and the services we provide.

We will not use personal information for an unrelated purpose unless you have consented to that use or the use is otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. CCTV, Alarm and Security System Information

When NQB Security installs or services CCTV, alarm, access control or other security equipment, we may need temporary access to the system to configure, test, diagnose or maintain it.

This may include access to system settings, device information, event logs or other technical information necessary to perform the requested work.

NQB Security does not claim ownership of footage, recordings or other security data generated by a client’s system.

Where we do not provide ongoing monitoring or storage services, the client is generally responsible for managing their security system and the information it records after installation or servicing has been completed.

Where NQB Security or a third-party provider provides monitoring or cloud-based services, the handling and storage of information may depend on the particular service and platform being used.

Property owners and operators are responsible for ensuring their CCTV and other surveillance systems are operated in accordance with applicable privacy, surveillance and workplace laws.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to provide our services, including to:

  • technicians or service providers assisting us with the requested work;
  • suppliers and manufacturers where technical support or warranty assistance is required;
  • monitoring service providers where a client has requested monitoring;
  • IT, website, accounting, payment or other business service providers;
  • insurers and professional advisers; and
  • government authorities, regulators, courts or law enforcement agencies where disclosure is required or authorised by law.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

7. Third-Party Security Platforms

Some security systems use third-party applications, cloud platforms, monitoring services or manufacturer-operated systems.

If you choose to use one of these services, information may also be collected, stored or processed by the relevant third-party provider.

Those providers may have their own privacy policies, terms and data storage practices. We encourage clients to review the privacy terms applying to any third-party security platform they use.

Some providers may store or process information outside Australia.

8. Direct Marketing

Where permitted by law, we may occasionally contact existing or prospective clients about NQB Security services that may be relevant to them.

10. Protecting Personal Information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, interference and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

The measures used may include password protection, access controls, secure electronic systems and limiting access to information to people who reasonably require it.

No electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

11. Retention of Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or to satisfy applicable legal, accounting, warranty, insurance or business requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably required, we may securely delete, destroy or de-identify it where appropriate.
